A walk through the park provides the stroller with vistas of Halifax Harbour, the Northwest Arm, wildlife, plants, trees and a number of interesting harbour defence ruins.

Also located nearby on Tower Road, are the former gates of Enos Collins estate, Gorsebrook. Collins was a merchant, shipowner, banker and privateer who amassed a huge profit during the American Civil War. Upon his death in 1871, he was acclaimed as the richest man in Canada. His beautiful Georgian style home was reborn as the Gorsebrook Golf Club and was torn down in 1959 to form part of St. Mary's University campus. This destruction led to the formation of the Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia.
